FALKIRK beat the weather, and Hamilton Accies, to record their first league win of the season. A fairly dull and uneventful encounter at The Falkirk Stadium burst into life in the second half when Chris Mitchell curled a stunning free kick past Tomas Cerny. And the valuable three points - which means the gap to Hamilton and Kilmarnock in joint second bottom is cut to just one – were secured when substitute Lee Bullen, who was playing up front, burst the net with 11 minutes remaining.

ST MIRREN manager Gus MacPherson has urged his side to hit the ground running when they line up against Hibs tomorrow afternoon. The Paisley side have had a few slow starts to games and in their last SPL outing at Ibrox it took a mere 17 seconds before they fell behind to a Kris Boyd goal. It gave them a mountain to climb and although they hauled a late goal back it was a case of too little, too late.

We've had a bad start in the last two league games and it is crucial in any game that you give yourself a platform   -Gus MacPherson

FALKIRK boss Eddie May reckons his team raised the bar with a gutsy and skilful display in their last outing against Celtic. But he has warned his Bairns all the confidence gained from that thrilling 3-3 draw will instantly drain away if they lose to fellow strugglers Hamilton Accies on Saturday. Basement boys Falkirk have still not won a game this season and May knows his side must get something against their nearest rivals to give themselves a fighting chance of SPL survival.
